A thief was caught and arrested for theft on Sunday afternoon, at the Iceland Store in Woolwich Town Centre.
The man, in his late twenties, was caught by staff after he tried to leave the store with items he did not pay for.
Emerging from Powis Street, at about 2.05pm, Woolwich Online was startled when a Police car raced to a stop in front of the Store, opposite the Beresford Square market. Two Police Officers (male and female) jumped out of their car and hastily entered the store.
But as we followed them inside the store, everything seemed normal in the shopping hall. However, they proceeded straight into the Staff Only area. So we waited for about 25 minutes before one the male officers came out to move the Police Car.
However, a Cashier at the store told Woolwich Online that one man was caught and, while awaiting the arrival of the police, taken into the staff only area, so as not to distract shoppers.
He was later arrested and taken out through the supply entrance at the back.
