* Council Warden.
Council Wardens posted to the Town Centre raised their game over the weekend as they appehend offenders.
The wardens were seen by our man busily approaching and stopping offenders, and then collecting their addresses. These will be taken back to council offices and staff will issue out tickets to the rule breakers.
It is an offence to drop litter on the street around the Town Centre and those breaking council rules in this regard have to release their details to the wardens and expect their offence fines in the post.
Woolwich Online asked the officers whether they can recommend arrest to bosses and they said dropping litter does not warrent arrest by attracts fines. "However, because the men offended, we have to collect their details and send to the office. They will receive their fines by post."
He said "...people should know that it is an offence to drop litter on the street. The Council has provided Litterbins around the Town Centre and people are expected to use them. Those dropping litter on the floor without using the litterbins will be offending and will be issued with fines."
The officer said "..although we do not have the power to arrest, we take their addresses and the bosses will issue them with appropriate fines."
Anyone caught dropping litter on the floor will be fined. Help keep the Town Centre clean by using the Litterbins.
