CROSSRAIL PROJECT: PHASED CLOSURE FOR ABBEYWOOD STATION CAR PARK by Sonny Jones

* Due For Demolition: Abbeywood Station.

From today October 15, 2013, a planned phased closure of the Abbeywood Station Car Park, will see park users lose 40 car parking spaces as a result of the ongoing Crossrail Project.

Six weeks later, from Monday, November 18, the car park will be totally closed.

Woolwich Online has since reported that the design for a new station had been submitted for approval. With the approval now secured, Crossrail's are being extended to the station building.

Project managers are working our temporary solutions that will reduce disruptions to rail users, especially those who can't travel on public transport.

To build a new station, the old one has to be demolished. The new station is expected to be built at the current car park as the Abbey Station is bordered by tall buildings on the left.

Like the Woolwich Arsenal Crossrail Station tracks, it looks like Abbeywood Crossrail Station tracks will underground. Our attempt to get confirmation to this has not been confirmed.

Due to begin operations in 2018, Crossrails promises to reduce travel times to Heathrow Airport bound passengers by a substantial amount of time as 12 trains will run every hour.
