INVITATION: GREENWICH COUNCIL CONSULTS ON THE FUTURE OF WOOLWICH ESTATES by Benson Agoha

* Part of Connaught Estates.

Councils invites traders and business owners to attend an exhibition to educate the public on the transformation of three Estates in Woolwich - Connaught, Morris Walk and Maryon Grove estates.

Entitled "Design Proposals for One Woolwich (Woolwich Estates)", a notice from the Council said the Royal Borough has appointed Lovell and Asra Housing Association to deliver the transformation of the Woolwich Estates.

Jo Partridge, Technical Support Officer said the move will result in the demolition of the three estates to deliver new high quality mixed tenure homes; as well as bringing wider benefits to local communities.

With Lovell having drawn up design proposals for the estates, and hoping to present a planning proposal to the Royal Borough’s planning committee by yearend, the message says, this represents an opportunity for interested parties to view and give their comments on the proposed scheme. Views from attenddees will be taken into consideration.

To make attendance more accessible to interested parties, two dates, in two venues, have been set aside to hold the exhibitions:

1) New Charlton Community Centre, 217 Maryon Road, Charlton, London SE7 8DB, today Wednesday 13th November from 3.30pm - 7.30pm.

2) Greenwich Town Hall, Wellington Street, Woolwich, London SE18 6PW on Saturday 16th November from 9am - 1pm.

The exhibitions will be attended by the architects as well as Lovell, and Asra Housing Association.

The notice said architects and contractors will be ready to answer any questions on a range of topics including "layout of the homes, their connection to the wider neighbourhoods, construction materials, open spaces and car parking."

The Council said this is an informal event that allowing everyone to attend at their leisure on both occassions.
