NEIGHBOURHOOD FOOD COLLECTIONS GETS UNDERWAY AT TESCO STORES by Sonny Jones

* FOOD BANK FLYER TODAY.

Generous food donors are today displaying their compassion by donating food to the Foodbank for poorer families during the Christmas Season.

Neatly dressed volunteers are standing by with their baskets in all Tesco stores, receiving food donations from shoppers.

The food collection scheme, in its third year, is expected to be popular with shoppers and Tesco promises to top up the total donations by a further 30%.

The food will be packed and distributed among thousands of families who would, otherwise not have afforded to buy themselves Christmas meals.

When our reporter visited the Tesco Extra Store at the Town Centre, two food bank volunteers, including one police cadet volunteer, were standing outside the store exit, handing out foodbank flyers.

At the shopping floor, three or four other volunteers stood behind filled baskets, smiling and saying `thanks', as shoppers approached them.

The scheme runs from today 29th, November till Sunday, 1st December, 2013.

Please give food in support of families in distress this season.

The Neighbourhood Food Collection team say "Thank You" as "#everycanhelps!"
