WOOLWICH TWEET-UP: CLLR JOHN FAHY SEEKS OPINION ON THE FUTURE OF WOOLWICH INDOOR MARKET by Benson Agoha

* Cllr John Fahy:

The third edition of Woolwich Tweep-Up held yesterday at the Cornerstone Cafe in Royal Arsenal, Woolwich.

The meeting, also known as an Woolwich Ideas Exchange Forum, provides the platform for face-to-face meet-and-greet sessions among Woolwich and Royal Borough Residents who met up on the micro-blogging social network, Twitter.

November's edition was hosted by Cllr John Fahy, Woolwich Riverside Councillor and Cabinet Member for Health, Adults & Older People, who used the opportunity to listen to diverse opinion on how to make Woolwich a better place for everyone.

The focus of the exchange was on the Woolwich Indoor Market. Ideas were generated by attendees on what, and how they would like to see the indoor market transformed, as Woolwich accellerates its redevopment and regeneration programme.

Ideas, suggestions and comparisons were made with neighbouring towns and Boroughs that have similar facilities, bearing in mind that Woolwich always wants to be unique.

There were also expressions of concern over the lack of night-life and other recreational attractions like Cinemas and Ice rinks in Woolwich and some updates on changes around the town centre.

And the forum was not just about talking to generate ideas for the indoor market.

There were snacks and drinks which made the rounds as discussions progressed, making attendance all the more interesting.

* Ice Rink at Broadgate, London: Would you like something like this in Woolwich or the Royal Arsenal?
