Susan Rice Slams Israeli Criticism Of John Kerry Over Peace Deal by Benson Agoha

United States National Security Advisor, Susan Rice has slamed critics of Secretary of State, John Kerry over his latest middle-east plan for an Israeli-Palestinian accord.

In a series of tweets, the Advisor said attacks being directed at Secretary Kerry by Israeli was totally unfounded and unacceptable.

She said John Kerry’s record of support for Israel's security and prosperity "rocks solid", adding Secretary Kerry remains committed to negotiations that can secure Israeli and Palestinian futures.

Her response followed several attacks on John Kerry's efforts at securing a lasting deal for Israeli-Palestinian peace.

The criticism started when Israeli Defence Minister, Moshe Ya'alon saying John Kerry was ‘obsessive and messianic’ in his quest for an Israeli-Palestinian deal.

On January 14, 2014, the Times of Israel reported that Moshe Ya'alon had been overheard in private conversations, lashing into US Secretary of State John Kerry and savaged US-led peace talks with the Palestinians.

The Times of Israel "Ya’alon called Kerry “inexplicably obsessive” and “messianic” in his efforts to coax the two sides into a peace agreement", adding that the US Secretary of State has “nothing to teach me about the conflict with the Palestinians...“All that can ‘save us’ is for John Kerry to win a Nobel Prize and leave us in peace,” the paper quoted him as saying.

On Sunday, another unnamed senior Israeli official accused the US Secretary of State of being "biased against Israel in his efforts to secure a peace deal with the Palestinians."

The source was quoted by ToI as telling Israel Radio “He is adopting a one-sided stance and isn’t putting any pressure on [Palestinian Authority President] Mahmoud Abbas.”

Adding “He pressures Israel and grinds it down, while Abbas hasn’t moved his stance one millimeter.”

This pressure, the official added, erodes Israel’s negotiation position before a framework agreement has even been formulated and put forward.

But Security Advisor Susan Rice said "U.S. Govt has been clear and consistent that we reject efforts to boycott or delegitimize Israel."
