Woolwich: Further Thames Barrier Closure Under Way

* Thames Barrier to be closed today fromm 12.15pm to 17.30pm.

Further closure of the Thames Barrier is under way today, despite reported fall on water level, last night.

According to the Environmental Agency, the lates closure will be today between 12.15 pm and 17.30 p.m.

The London Port Authority revealed the information this morning on Twitter, posting "Just been advised of a further @EnvAgencySE Thames Barrier closure..."

As at this morning, a total 61 Flood Warnings and 100 Flood Alerts remained in place for the SouthEast, while it has relaxed 21 previous warnings and alerts.

The latest closure is coming, despite radio report last night that water level is falling and that flooding risk has therefore been lowered.
