We earnestly pray for the 239 passengers and crew still missing following the disappearance on Friday of Flight MH370. Science and its embarrassing limitations!
As at 7am this morning there still was no news of the Malaysian plane that went missing at the weekend. A Malaysian Airlines spokesman said there had been no trace of any debris from the plan at all, even as efforts to track it intensify.
Reports say efforts are not being spared to find the reason for its disappearance as friends and family keep vigil, and hope for the best.
Forty ships, 34 aircraft and submarines are reportedly involved to find the Boeing 777 aircraft, and with no news, 72 hours after its disappearance, it is becoming both unbelievable and embarrassing - at least for science.
It is certainly strange that this still manages to occur, with the number of satellites keeping watchful eyes over our earth. And what about the International Space Station?
The ISS is said to be capable of travelling at 7.66 kilometres per second or 27,600 km/h; meaning 17,100 mph.
As a science idiot, my question is, can the ISS not be called in at times like this? Afterall, I understand that communication between earth and onboard astronauts have improved greatly in recent years.
Someone please give me a little bit more education here.
