A middle aged man was nicked by the police at the Town Centre yesterday evening for street fighting.
An eye witness account told Woolwich Online the fight started around the Royal Arsenal gate when a man apparently tried to woo a lady, whose boyfriend was not far.
As the boy friend challenged him, they soon began to argue and the offending man slapped him, then took off.
The lady's boyfriend gave chase with packer and caught up with him at the front of the DLR station overlookin Snappysnaps Shop. He hit him and the man fell down.
But a Police car was not far behind, and it did not take long for them to establish the offender. A police van was called hin and the offender arrested.
The yesterday also started badly for another young driver who was stopped by Police along Plumstead Road at 7.30am. He was promptly handcuffed while police carried out further enquiries.
A passerby said "that seemed like a bad start for the day".
