High level talks are ongoing in South Sudan after the the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon, arrived there to put pressure on the warring parties to honour a peace agreement signed since January.
* UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon meets with President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan.
It comes as reports of escalating fighting surfaced from the war-ton African nations where government troops attacked rebel strongholds in Bentiu.
The war is fuelled by differing politicians whom the UN Scribe said s "are locked in an increasingly brutal conflict in the country"
Nigeria's former President Olusegun Obasanjo had been consulting with the US Secretary of State, John Kerry and Thomas-Greenfield of State Africa, over the situation in South Sudan.
The report that they are due to “sit down together” this week for talks on ending the conflict which has brought nearly five months of fighting comes as a cheering news.
