Yesterday, President Bashar al-Assad and his British born wife openly put a smile on the faces of orphaned and displaced children as the country celebrated the Matyrs' Day.
The children were delighted for the chance to smile and as can be seen from the following photos, the President and wife showed genuine affection.
* Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad and wife play with orphaned and displaced children as the country marks Maryrs' Day.
* Genuine affection on display restored smile on the faces of displaced and orphaned Syrian children.
* President Bashar al-Assad carries one of the children as his wife accepts a hug from another.
* And his wife cups a child's chicks in her hands as she chats with the kids.
President al-Assad said Syrians are always pride of their martyrs. And telling the children that "Families of martyrs are also source of pride."
According to Piazza dela Carina, al-Assad said the Martyrs’ Day "is a precious occasion for all Syrians and it means much for us as we have always felt pride of our martyrs who have protected, along with their families, our Homeland."
Hopefully the withdrawal deal is extended to the rest of the country and bring an end to a conflict that has claimed a reported 150 lives and displaced millions.
