GREENWICH: HMS Bulwark Gives The Public A Guided Tour Of Flag Ship.

by Benson Agoha

We joined others on a tour of Navy Ship HMS BULWARK in Greenwich on Sunday and brought you some photos.

The guided tour provided the public with information on what the navy does and how they protect our nations interest - at home and abroad.

* HMS Bulwark was anchored just a few metres from the famous Cutty Sark, in Greenwich.
Launched on November 15, 2001, the iconic Navy Flagship is one of the United Kingdom's two newest amphibious transport docks designed to put Royal Marines ashore by air and by sea.

HMS Bulwark and crew must be ready and are often so, to be deployed at short notice - some times within five days of receiving the call-up to duty.

* Landing Deck: On the landing pad.

* The helicopter enjoying close admiration from curious tourists who made it within the 6pm closing time.

* Interior: Amidst the tour, we listened to our guide, as up in the attic inside one of the massive interiors of the vessel, marines worked hard on some of the fitness equipment on board, shielded by flags of different countries.

* Rear: Landing platform on which the helicopter (above) rests.

The ship has a massive landing platform for helicopters and drones at the rear and the interior is equipped with modern communication gadgets and sensors, enabling it to locate, track and `sort' out any enemy machine approaching on land, air or sea.

As expected, it is also equipped with several military gadgets, gunnery, canons and fortified specialist vehicles for deployment as and when necessary.
