by Benson Agoha

* Baroness Sayeeda Warsi
Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Senior Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has resigned this morning.

Baroness Warsi said she was resigning over government policy on the Gaza-Israeli conflict.

Revealing her decision on Twitter, she said she had already tendered her resignation the the Prime Minister, who is on holiday.

She said "With deep regret, I have this morning written to the Prime Minister and tendered my resignation", adding " I can no longer support Govt policy on #Gaza".

In November 2013, Baroness Warsi called for more to be done to protect present day Christians and minorities, telling the US Council on Foreign Relations that  "One in 10 Christians live in a minority situation and large numbers of those who live in a minority situation around the world are persecuted.".

She said "it cannot be right that I am concerned with the plight of minorities around the UK and not be concerned with that of minorities around the world so "..as Ministers it is either we do this properly or we don't do it at all."

Baroness Warsi was appointed in 2012 as a Senior Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Minister for Faith and Communities at the Department for Communities and Local Government.

A Conservative Member of the House of Lords, Baroness Warsi was before her appointment, Chairman of the Conservative Party and Minister without Portfolio.
