Bromley Reworks Sprawling Town Center

by Benson Agoha

Major works are ongoing in Bromley Town Center as it undergoes a massive improvement.

The works, being handled by Conway, begins from the approach to Bromley Magistrates Court, and extends up to, as well as covering a big part of the town center, which hosts major brands like Topshop, Miss Selfridges, Primarks, Empire Cinema, Apple Store and many other big brands.

The High Street is being resurfaced, just as the iconic interlocking pavement stones and tiles are being removed and replaced. New monuments are being installed.

The portion of the High Street leading through McDonald's Restaurant, previously a tarmac, has been scraped off and now being replaced with interlocking pavement stones.

Also the former terracotta floor tiles in parts of the town center have been scraped out and replaced with a mix of tumbled limestone floor tiles and astra beige carpet tiles.

Vehicular traffic to the bustling town has been re-routed, but as the works are being done in phases, footfalls are not necessarily affected and shoppers are still able to navigate through to their target stores, pubs and eateries.

Bromley's massive shopping center called The Mall, is also not affected. But if you are approaching from Catford through Downham, you may have to branch out at Tweedy Road (the A21) and avoid the High Street, which have been largely affected by construction.

If you are coming in from Beckenham on the A222, you may need to drive past the Magistrate, then connect Tweedy Road.
