ROYAL GREENWICH SUPPORT FOR BLACKHEATH FIREWORKS 2014

PUBLIC NOTICE:

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is supporting this year’s fireworks extravaganza on Blackheath which takes place on Saturday 1 November.

Organised by Lewisham Council, the annual free event is one of London’s biggest, and attracts up to 100,000 people.
This year, Royal Greenwich is working in partnership with Lewisham Council and is providing some of the concession stalls – to be operated by Greenwich businesses.
The Royal Borough will also support the event in kind as in previous years, by proving services like traffic management and street cleaning.
It’s a bumper week for local businesses, particularly up at Blackheath Standard and on Old Dover Road which are populated by independent stores alongside high street brands.
The 60-seat Scullery Café on Vanbrugh Park, for example, is holding a special sausage-and-mash night on the Saturday - with two sittings ahead of the fireworks display.
Circus Berlin will take up residence on the Heath from 22 - 30 October to attract visitors to the area, while some businesses are doing special offers that same week.
Councillor Denise Hyland, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich said:
“We are pleased to be working in partnership with Lewisham Council on organising this year’s event and we are keen that our support will also benefit local traders”.
Visitors to the fireworks are urged to travel on public transport as there will be road closures and restrictions around Blackheath all day on Nov 1.
Organisers are also urging visitors not to take any sparklers with them, and dogs are not to be taken to the heath as well. All pets should be kept indoors.

  • The fun fair opens at:                                         4pm
  • Food and refreshments are available from:     5pm
