The MP who was re-elected in the May 7 general elections said said it was amazing when she walks around and get to talk to people who know New Wine Church even outside of Woolwich.

Speaking at the reception organised by the church to honour her and order senior leaders of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, she said low wages, unemployment and homelessness are some of the challenges for which working together with New Wine Church, she hopes will be realised.

She said Royal Greenwich was remarkable because, compared with other boroughs with "this is how we do it" mindset. "Royal Greenwich is continually looking for ways to do it better."

The MP said she was glad that the Deputy Mayor (Cllr Olu Babatola) is African and that this fact is likely to be a source of encouragement to school children when he begins to visit schools and that she believes that many can look at him and say “I can be Deputy Mayor”.

She said she hopes he would not be the last Deputy Mayor.

Teresa Pearse MP was presented with a commemorative gift and expressed delight and caused a general laughter when she the gift would occupy a prime position and that she would show it to her children and say to them "Listen to your mother".
