The driver of a Vauxhall INSIGNIA similar to the photo slammed unto the lamp post destroying it and a traffic light, as well as his car.  He then reportedly walked out of the car alive without injuries.

When Woolwich Online arrived the scene at minutes past midnight, a towing vehicle was removing the remains of the car after its front bumper and head lamp had been wrecked.  It's front left tyre was also affected.  But there was not sign of the driver.

The accident which occured at the junction of Pettman Crescent, overlooking the Greenwich Islamic Centre (Plumstead Mosque), was photographed by an excited teenager who have not been able to provide us with a photo.

After the car was towed away, staff of Royal Greenwich were left sweeping the site and making it safe for other motorists.
