Woolwich: Mayor visits Volunteering Agencies at the General Gordon Square

WO Staff | Woolwich

Today marks the begining of Volunteering Week which will run from 1 - 7 June,  2015.

Pleople who have free time are being encouraged to give time by way of volunteering.  This is because it matters, both to the beneficiary, schools, hospitals, the community and to the giver.

CSV Volunteering currently has a Canopy at the General Gordon Square, Woolwich, where information and assistance on ways to volunteer are provided.

Mayor of Royal Borough of Greenwich, Cllr Norman Adams, has just visited them to show his support.

Below, he poses for a photo with promoters of voluneering from the Grneenwich Council and Volunteering Centres at which the following photo was posted with the caption: "Mayor Norman Adams @Royal_Greenwich & Michelle Martin @VCGreenwich supporting volunteers in Greenwich #volunteersweek."

Anyone interested in giving free time for good causes can pop out to the Square and have a chat with them.

They are able to advise and recommend various volunteering opportunities.
