Well, as I type out this post, sitting next to me are three boys aged 12, 10 and 8 year olds and they are all busy on the computer playing games.
But for one 12 year old, his passion is to read, read and read. And even though he could not afford a bus fare to go to the Library, he begged the post man to let him have some junk mails to read.
Smiling boy. Mathew say he loves to use his imagination. |
Today, the story of Mathew Flores, 12, of Sandy, Utah, USA, who approached his local postal worker, Ron Lynch, to ask if he could have any spare junk mail to read, featured on the Huffington Post, because his request has gone viral after the postal worker shared his request on Facebook. And the books are flooding in.
Growing Library |
The Postal worker said of the young boy: "He told me his wish is to have books to read. I told him the library had many, but he said they don't have a car, and couldn't afford the bus."
"Let's get this 12 year old some books," he continued. "Let's help him. I was given many books as a child, and it's time to help someone else! Please share and let's get him tons of reading material!
"Most kids his age want electronics. It's great to see his desire, and you should have seen him beam when I said I could help!
"He's counting on me, so I'm counting on you!"
Well, now his library is growing. From no book to a micro-boxed library and it is still growing. Mathew said he loves to use his imagination - and this time, it sure has worked to his favour.
"I don't even know", he says "I'm just supper happy!"
What can you do for him? To help him, read the full story and watch the video ( here.)
