Minute Silence as Royal Greenwich Honours Victims of the terror attack in Sousse Beach Resort, Tunisia

A minute’s silence was held at Woolwich Town Hall on Friday (July 3) in memory of the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Tunisia.

and Borough Dean of New Wine Church, David Chick  and supported by other
community leaders, stood in silence,  at the Woolwich Town Hall on Friday 3rd July, 2015,
 in memory of the victims of the June 26 terror attack on a holiday resort in Tunisia  in which 30 British citizens died. (Credit: RBG)

The leader of the council Cllr Denise Hyland joined chief executive John Comber and council staff at the event, which was opened by the mayor of the royal borough Cllr Norman Adams. 

Local community and faith leaders were also present for the occasion and included David Chick, borough dean of New Wine Church; Dolly Baldeo of the Greenwich Hindu Temple; Dr Tariq Abassi, MBE secretary general of the World Muslim Congress; Gurdwara Sahib and Saeed Ahmad of the Greenwich Peninsula Chaplaincy Steering Group, and Jagir Sekhon, OBE, who represented Woolwich Sikh Temple.

The minute silence was also observed at the Woolwich Library, where visitors and Library users were invited to join the observation, sign-posted by two fire alarm signals at mid-day.
