The foreign office, last night confirmed the White house report of the death of Hajji Mutazz, the second in command for terror group ISIS.  He was killed in a U.S. airstrike in Iraq.

Tweeting the news last night, the Foreign Office said: #ISIL Deputy Leader Haji Mutazz believed to have been killed in an air strike near #Mosul #DefeatingISIL.

According to a Fox News report Mutazz was killed on Tuesday, Aug. 18 in an airstike while traveling in a vehicle near Mosul, Iraq, Fox News reported. Also killed was an ISIS media operative known as Abu Abdullah.

According to the report, Mutazz, also known as Fadhil Ahmad al-Hayali, was senior deputy to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and a primary coordinator for moving weapons, vehicles and explosives between Iraq and Syria. Mutazz was instrumental in a number of military operations, including the ISIS offensive in Mosul in June 2014.

The White House is optimistic that his death will be a set back to the groups operations, saying in a statement that “Al-Hayali's death will adversely impact ISIL's operations given that his influence spanned ISIL's finance, media, operations, and logistics.”

The statement said “The United States and its coalition partners are determined to degrade and destroy this terrorist group which has wrought so much harm and suffering on the people of the region and beyond.”

Hajji Mutazz was an Iraqi national according to Fox News.
