Malcolm Turnbull Ousts Tony Abbott from Office In No Confidence Vote - Assumes Duty Today

Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott has been ousted from power on Monday, according a report by Fox News.

He was removed from his position through an internal government challenge, by a former PM, described as moderate.

Malcolm Turnbull, the new PM had served before between 16 September 2008 – 1 December 2009. As he assumed office today, he will be assisted by the former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Julie Bishop as deputy.

According to Fox News, Australia's beleaguered prime minister was ousted from power in an internal party ballot on today, Monday, as the ruling conservative party attempts to win back a disenchanted public by replacing the nation's polarizing, gaffe-prone leader with his more moderate rival.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott (right) lost a leadership ballot by members of his party, who voted 54 to 44 to replace him with former Liberal Party leader and Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Liberal Party whip Scott Buchholz told reporters.
