Tsering Passang, Chairman of the Tibetan Community in Britain and organiser said: “We are so delighted and very fortunate to meet and hear His Holiness for the second time this year in the UK. This year is an auspicious one as it marks His Holiness 80th birthday."

"In June in Aldershot, members of the Tibetan Community in Britain along with the Buddhist Community Centre UK presented a special song in celebration of His Holiness’ birthday. We welcome His Holiness once more to UK and thank him for his contribution to British society through his public and private engagements."

Mayor of Greenwich Councillor Norman Adams said: “We would like to welcome His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Royal Borough of Greenwich. His visit is particularly fitting as our borough is home to the UK’s largest population of Tibetan residents who are contributing positively to our local area as well as sharing their wonderful culture with us.”
