Travelogue has had to apologize to a vigilant guest, after she felt violated from discovering a camera hidden in a bathroom shower. But questions of how it was planted and by whom remained unanswered.

Harmony Hachey (23) was staying at the Oxford Wheatley branch of Travelodge when she decided to take a shower and her eagle eyes noticed something behind the vent.

The lady who was travelling with other female colleagues said, one of them had had a shower before her and said she "was absolutely disgusted" by the find.

She said "it looked suspicious to me, it like a camera pretty much straight-away but I tried to convince myself that it was crazy and that it wasn't the case."

"And I continued to have my shower and when I came out, I look into the vent, it had been held there by a red tape and when when I pulled the red tape away, it was obvious it was a camera."

"I got a fork and stuck it in the vent. You could see so clearly it was a camera. I broke down at one point. I just felt so violated.”

But she said luckily it was not attached to anything at the time and no one could say how long it had been there or how many people had been streamed.

She said she was so horrified and `violated' that she asked for alternative accommodation. Travelodge had to move her bed to another room before she felt comfortable again.

"I didn’t want to stay in that room. They moved the bed into another room. Later I got a call from customer services saying I was going to get a full refund and that was it.”

Police are now investigating the incident and Travelodge apologised, adding that there was no footage recorded on the camera.

A Travelodge spokeswoman said: “The privacy of our customers is a matter of the highest importance to us and the hotel team investigated immediately."

The Spokeswoman said: "While the camera appeared to be inoperative, we have reported this matter to the police and we are now supporting them fully with their ongoing investigations."

"We would like to offer our sincere apologies to the customer affected and will remain in contact with them to ensure the matter is resolved.”
