With "Hello, It's me. I was wondering, after all these years, if you would like to meet..." during Sunday's X-factor, Adele set the pace for what might be her latest album - expected to be released soon.
Adele is not a small seller. And the snippet provided the much needed hint to record labels to delay songs of other artists that might have been scheduled for release in the run up to Christmas.
The euphoria that followed Adele's Sunday snippet was huge and without wasting much time, she has broken her silence - and a few hearts.
It's been four years of waiting, while she was setting up a family and having a baby.
Yesterday, with a post on her face book page, told her fans of her wishes over the years. wishing to be one thing after another.
"When I was 7, I wanted to be 8", she began, adding "when I was 8, I wanted to be 12. When I turned 12, I just wanted to be 18."
These were what inspired the latest album. “My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record.”
Adele said “I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did or never did," adding "But I haven't got time to hold onto the crumbs of my past like I used to. What's done is done."
Adele who names her albums according to her own age, is calling this one 25.
She said “25 is about getting to know who I’ve become without realising” adding “And I’m sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened.”
If rumours having a November release date is true, we will be hearing from the mega selling star soon enough before Christmas.
Read her letter to her fans below:
To the letter, one elderly fan replied: "I'm almost 70 yrs old so most of my future is behind me, but I don't care because there are so many advantages being a little older like nowadays I don't give a damn what people thinking about me. If I want to be childish I don't have to be ashamed of it. So live your life and love it, no matter what age you are."
