NCA: We Are Not Providing Any Further Detail About Diezani Allison Madueke arrest At This Time,

Eager reporters trying to uncover the identities of those listed as accomplices to Nigeria's former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who was arrested on Arrival in London on Friday last week, were disappointed to by British National Crime Agency (NCA) refused to honour their request.

The former petroleum minister's cash of £27,000 was confiscated for being over the limit allowed to be carried cash into the country.

On Monday, she appeared at the West Minister Magistrates Court and was granted conditional bail,

but the cash seized will be held in custody till 2016. Some reports say till at-least April, 2016 when the case is due to be heard.

There has be numerous claims since then. One report said Nigerian authorities were on their way to London with incriminating evidence against the former Minister - including that some N1.2million (£4000) was found in her house in Abuja.

Another report said her husband, two-time Governor of Anambra and Imo States have arranged to fly in lawyers to London in her defense.



On Wednesday, Nigerian Daily, Vanguard Newspapers reported that efforts to confirm the name of other reportedly complicit in the case were refused by the National Crime Agency on the ground that

"it does not confirm the identities of individuals it arrests unless there was specific operational requirement to do so.”

NCA said “We can confirm that £27,000 was seized from Diezani Alison-Madueke at Westminster Magistrate’s Court along with smaller sums from two other individuals. But we are not providing any further detail at this time.”

“Cash seizure in the UK does not need to be related to an arrest. The NCA does not confirm identities of individuals at arrest, unless there is a specific operational requirement to do so.

“There is no further information we are offering at this time.
