The question whether Uber App, which has been the bone of contention between black Cab Drivers and Private Uber subscribers, is legal or not has to today been settled at the High Court - and it is Legal.

The city has been braced for a possible negative ruling and what might become the fate of the app which has come to the rescue of many commuters in times of need.

But a High Court judge ruled Friday that the app is legal

In a breaking news, Evening Standard which is monitoring the ongoing ruling tweeted that

"The legality of the mini-cab hailing app [which] was cast into doubt after Transport for London questioned whether it operated in the same way as meters in strictly regulated black cabs...has proven the app is legal."

Transport for London was sympathetic to the complaints of the black cabs drivers, which uses the meter to calculate its fees, but insists that the app uses a similar technology, but shouldn't - casting doubts on the legality of the app to operate.

But a hearing at London’s High Court has proven the app is legal.

While the story is still developing, hopefully, there will be no new blockades by the black cabs anytime soon.

Uber is an app on which intending drivers and passengers sign up to. When a passenger hails a taxi through the app from a smart phone, the nearest driver to his location is notified.

The driver uses his map diagram to trace the location of the passenger and picks him up. After dropping him off, he simply drives off. The money is then directed withdrawn from the account of the passenger, while the drivers account is credited - all done automatically by the app.

Uber itself appeared to be not too worried about the imminent ruling. On Thursday it revealed plans to extend its services on tweeter.

Urging fan to remain calm, it tweeted: "Psst! We'll be launching a new UK city tomorrow - in fact, a whole new country. Stay tuned! #UberEverywhere".
