Arriva Trains Wales Strike Suspended After `Important Progress' In Last Minutes

The Arriva Driver Strike expected to have begun by mid-night Wednesday and run for 48 hours was called off at the last minute, after `important progress' was made in last minutes talks.

Before the suspension, RMT had already ordered all drivers to stay off duty by mid-night while Arriva had advised travelers that train tickets would be acceptable on their buses. 

But after the progress was made, RMT General Secretary, Mick Cash quickly issued a suspension of strike notification to its members.

In a written statement, made available to Woolwich Online, the RMT General Secretary said the union had carefully considered the new development and agreed to call off the strike.

Mick Cash said: “After important progress in last minute talks with RMT and ASLEF, and after careful consideration by the union’s executive, we have agreed to suspend the strike action due to start on Arriva Trains Wales at midnight to allow for further discussions. Members have been instructed to work normally.“
