Key partners came together to celebrate the start of the demolition work on the site at Connaught Estate, which included members of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Lovell and Asra Housing Group.

The first cluster of affordable homes will be completed in February 2017 and the first private sale homes will be available from May 2017.

Local residents will have access to apprenticeships and training opportunities which could lead to long term employment.

Councillor Kirby, Royal Borough of Greenwich Cabinet member for Housing said: “The regeneration of the Connaught Estate forms part of the Royal Borough’s £300 million programme to create modern housing as well as training, employment and business opportunities for the community."

"The overall programme will create new housing and new communities which will become an integral part of the wider regeneration of Woolwich Town Centre. We are therefore excited that construction is now commencing on site, which will bring the delivery of much needed housing and amenities for local people”.
