Royal Greenwich Launches New Greenwich One Card

by our RBG Correspondent | Eltham

The borough’s residents can get some great discount deals with the launch this week of the Royal Borough’s One Card.

newly launched Greenwich One Card
Cards will be available from the Eltham Centre during the Eltham Lights Up event, on Thursday 19 November, which traditionally marks the start of the festive season in Eltham town centre.

Cards will also be available online and from Council leisure centres and libraries from Friday 20 November.

The One Card gives residents all-in-one access to leisure centres and libraries across the Royal Borough. Card holders will also be able to use it for discounts and deals from a diverse range of local businesses – look out for window stickers of participating businesses.

Members will be able to use their Greenwich One Card to access and enjoy leisure and library services run by the Royal Borough in partnership with GLL. This ranges from fitness centres at gyms and swimming pools, to borrowing books, DVDs, and using computer facilities in local libraries.

Olympic athlete and Starting Blocks ambassador, Zoe Smith, gave her backing to the Greenwich One Card when she met Councillor Miranda Williams, Cabinet Member for Culture and Creative Industries, at the brand new Greenwich Centre, which opened this summer.

Zoe, who is travelling to the USA for the World Weightlifting Championships, also got a first-hand look of the centre’s state-of-the-art gym, library and swimming pool facilities – that are just a One Card away for local people.

Zoe said: “I am really impressed with the local gym facilities here and it’s great to hear about the launch of the Greenwich One Card. It makes sense to give people even better accessibility and availability to these services. I am sure that the card will give people a great chance to get involved activities at local centres and hopefully improve their fitness and wellbeing.”

Councillor Miranda Williams said: “The Council is committed to providing state-of-the art leisure and library facilities across the royal borough and the One Card will allow easier and more convenient access to these services and hopefully encourage even more residents to use them.”
