A Few Model Cars Out Of The Factory And Tesla Joins The Big Three Most Innovative Designers

Not that it would have been surprising to anyone who knew Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, Space X and Paypal, because he had for long been described as one of the best industrial designers available

But two years ago, Tesla was a distant 41 on the list of auto designers. Now, it has been named as No. 3 on that same list, behind only Apple and Google, according the latest report by Industry Week.

 

A company that used to be ranked 41st on the same list, jumps all the way to third — leapfrogging leaders like Microsoft, Amazon and GE.

 

As will be seen on the list published by Forbes, Toyota is on 6, BMW on 7, Daimler on 10, troubled Volkswagen on 35. India's Tata is on 26, China's Huawei on 45, BT Group on 47 while Computer maker Lenovo occupies the 50th slot.

The miracle was the rollout of the company's Model S Sedans followed by their Model X, after a top rating by Consumer Report.

The electric car star has joined those tech giants at the top of an annual ranking of innovative firms by Boston Consulting Group, landing the third position on a list of the 50 most innovative companies based on a survey of 1,500 senior executives at a wide array of companies, according to an Industry Week report.

"Apple and Google again hold the top two spots," BCG said in the report, which showed the iPhone maker at the head of the list.

 

"Tesla, which has been moving up the list at the speed of one of its Model S sedans, reached No. 3."

Tesla, one of three car makers in the top 10 spots on the list, made its debut on the list two years ago — in 41st place.
