Invitation to Southwark Primary Care Joint Committee meeting

The Primary Care Joint Committees of the six Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in south east London (NHS Bexley CCG, NHS Bromley CCG, NHS Greenwich CCG, NHS Lambeth CCG, NHS Lewisham CCG and NHS Southwark CCG) and NHS England will meet in public to undertake their responsibilities in respect of planning, commissioning and contracting general practice services on the evening of 10 December 2015.

Primary Care Joint Committees are committees of the local CCG Governing Body and NHS England who have formally agreed to commission local general practice services under section 83 of the NHS Act.

Whilst each CCG is focusing on its local borough based services, the six CCGs in south east London have agreed to work collaboratively with NHS England as the contract holders for primary medical service providers (general practices) and will meet together to undertake their responsibilities for:​

* Planning primary medical services (including carrying out and responding to local needs assessments).

* Reviewing and seeking to improve and support the development of local general practice.

* Managing and ensuring the commissioning of good quality services within the budgets available to pay for them.

CCGs and NHS England recognise the importance of high quality, safe and accessible primary care services and are committed to working together to secure them locally.

The fourth meeting of the Southwark committee will be held on:

These are meetings held in public and members of the public are invited to attend. Papers for the Joint Primary Care Committees will be available from the six CCGs' websites a week before the meeting.
