Chelsea and Mourinho Part Company By Mutual Consent, say Club

by Benson Agoha | Sports

* Jose Mourinho departs for the second, and maybe, final time.
Chelsea and Manager Jose Mourinho have parted company for the second time Thursday, in what the Club called `mutual consent'.  It was just two and half years after the maverick returned to the club for his second spell.

Generally known as the `Special One' during his first stint at the Club,
Mourinho on his return, said he was returning to Chelsea this time `The Happy One', having enjoyed success in Italy and Spain.

Many predicted he would be dominating the premier league this time, after the first year that he would need to rebuild the new team. He also hopped to have a prolonged stay at the club.

And, while the first season of his return ended on a high, he even delivered on his promise to win the Premier League during his second season.

But it all turned sour early in the third season, following a burst up with Chelsea's female physician, Dr. Eva Caneiro who rushed unto the field to treat Eden Hazard - player whom Morinho said was `only tired and not injured'.

That clash appeared to be the beginning of Chelsea's down-side, as the defending champions, with the winning team almost still intact, who won the trophy suddenly seemed to have lost the drive to repeat the feet.
Dr. Eva Caneiro was redeployed afterwards, before eventually leaving the club.
In a sense, Chelsea's problems may not be too far from that incident. And today, it all ended in the `Happy One' joining Dr. Caneiro on the outside.

Read The Club Statement below:

All at Chelsea thank Jose for his immense contribution since he returned as manager in the summer of 2013.

His three league titles, FA Cup, Community Shield and three League Cup wins over two spells make him the most successful manager in our 110-year history. But both Jose and the board agreed results have not been good enough this season and believe it is in the best interests of both parties to go our separate ways.

The club wishes to make clear Jose leaves us on good terms and will always remain a much-loved, respected and significant figure at Chelsea. His legacy at Stamford Bridge and in England has long been guaranteed and he will always be warmly welcomed back to Stamford Bridge.

The club’s focus is now on ensuring our talented squad reaches its potential.

There will be no further comment until a new appointment is made.
