Police and the Royal Borough of Greenwich have written to every Licensee in the borough to remind them of their duties, particularly during the fast approaching festivities.

The letter highlights the duties of each pub under the Licensing Act 2003.

It is a reminder that licensees have a responsibility to prevent noise or disturbances inside or outside pubs, ensure that CCTV is working, assist customers in returning home safe by providing information on local transport and making sure that their trade does not have a negative impact on the local neighbourhood.
Borough Commander Helen Millichap, said: “We want licensees to work closely with us and ensure that, together, we can give everyone a safe Christmas across the borough.”

Councillor Jackie Smith, Royal Borough of Greenwich cabinet member for Community Safety and Environment, said: "We want to remind licensees during this busy festive period that they have a duty to prevent noise or disturbances in and around their premises. We also want them to help their customers return home safely and that residents living nearby are not affected by any disturbances so we can all enjoy a safe and happy Christmas."
