The body of country singer Craig Strickland, who disappeared with his friend Chase Morland, during a duck hunting trip just after Christmas, has been found after days of searching.

Strickland 29, and 22 year old Chase Morland announced they were heading for duck hunting and did so `just in case they don't come back'. As fate would have it, their boat capsized on Monday December 28, 2015.

While Morland's body was recovered the next day, Strickland's has been a subject of prolonged search - until yesterday, Monday 4th January, 2015.

Helen Strickland, Craig's wife, tweeted "#CraigStrickland was found today. He is safe with his Father in Heaven. Thank you Lord for leading us to him today. I will praise you, Amen."

Strickland reported died of hypothermia after being exposed for days without rescue.

The friends went to Kaw Lake in Northern Oklahoma for duck hunting on the 27th of December 2015.

Before his death, Strickland was the lead singer of the Arkansas-based country-rock band Backroad Anthem.

The pair's capsized boat was found that day. Morland's body was recovered from the lake on Dec. 28.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division found Strickland's body Monday morning, authorities said.

"Strickland’s body was located within the original search area known as Bear Creek Cove," authorities stated.

The singer's wife shared the news on Twitter.
