Nigerian Becomes First African judge In New Jersey (Photos and Video)

A lawyer of Nigerian decent has been appointed as a Judge in the US state of New Jersey, making him the first African to hold the post.

Jude O Nkama made history on Wednesday when he became the first African to be so appointed in 349 years of the State of New Jersey.

Also appointed by Hon. Ras Baraka, Mayor of the City of Newark, NJ are Hon. Ugochukwu Nwaokoro as Deputy Mayor; and Evans Anyanwu, Esq. as Chief Prosecutor of the city.

Wednesday's appointment, added to the succession of good news for Nigerians resident in the USA after last months appointment of Adewale Adeyemo on December 16, 2015 as the Deputy National Security Adviser.

Before his appointment, Mr Adeyemo served in top roles at the Treasury Department. Following his appointment, he will succeed Caroline Atkinson as the president's deputy national security adviser for international economic affairs.

According to the accompanying text to the YouTube video, 34 year old Adeyemo joined the White House's National Economic Council as deputy director and was the Treasury's lead negotiator on the currency agreement that was part of the Pacific trade deal. Adeyemo also worked on Treasury's response to crises in Ukraine and Greece.
