John Terry's revelation that he would not be retiring at Chelsea FC came to many as a shock, but some were not surprised.
But as it emerges today, Chelsea has revealed it plans to move for Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen.
At the same time, club says it is considering Aymen Abdennour who plays for Valencia.
In a Tweet, Chelsea Transfer said the club "are interested in signing Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen, as well as considering Valencia's Aymen Abdennour".
John Terry's departure from the club is the latest of high profile departures from the club in recent times.
Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba, who has returned to the Club for the third time under twice interim Manager Guus Hiddink are names that readily come to mind.
