How Crossrail Effect Is Changing AbbeyWood Rail Lines

by Benson Agoha | Abbeywood

If you arrived at Abbey Wood Station from Dartford at night, you would probably wonder whether you arrived at the right station, as you now have your exit platform on your right. Well yes, you are in Abbey Wood.

The arrival of Crossrail is changing many aspects of Abbey Wood outlook, especially the scenery of the Station, where massive construction project is ongoing.

The main artery from the Abbeywood Station has already been redesigned, following the arrival of Sainsbury's stores which has already opened.

Crossrail is realigning the South Eastern Line by moving the tracks to the left of the separator wall at Abbeyood Station, the whole goal being to have Crossrail tracks on the right that leads the trains strait into the tunnel point near Plumstead.

The engineers in the picture above were removing the tracks, after a new one was constructed on the left (below) which now ensures that passengers alight from the right side in direction of travel as against the left side of it.
