The gala, which took place at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel, had the aim of improving literacy rates in Ghana and the rest of Africa.
Hosted by Afua Hirsch - Sky News correspondent and Rodney Hinds - Sports and Features Editor for the Voice Newspaper, the event was attended by eminent personalities from various walks of life.
His Excellency, Victor E. Smith (above) - the Ghana High Commissioner to the UK and Northern Ireland was in attendance and made the Keynote Speech.
Also in attendance were Actor and Director, Hugh Quarshie of Holby City; Apprentice Finalist - Bianca Miller and Joe Slater - the star actor of Waterloo Road.
Henry Yentumi, co-founder of PGL, who made an emotional appeal at the event, recalled how the fortunes of his family had been transformed through the power of education. He concluded with the call to action saying “Together, let us rise to the challenge of funding global education.”
Jermain Jackman, 2014 winner of The BBC talent show The Voice, made an electrifying performance. And with his rendition of the Nina Simon classic – ‘Feeling Good’, amongst four other songs, he changed the night's atmosphere, maintaining that we have the power “to change the lives of children.”

The wonderful ambience of the Jumeirah Carlton Hotel, the event's live music and a delightful 3 course meal, made for a memorable night, attracting generous donations which will go towards the provision of much needed learning resources for school children in Ghana.
The first beneficiaries of the proposed mobile libraries will be the Upper West Akim District.
