Man Collapses At Charing Cross Station After A Nights Out - Suspected Of Drinking Too Much

by Benson Agoha | City of London

A man who collapsed as he crossed the Station barrier at Charing Cross Friday night was said to have drunk too much.

One man, of Asian origin, collapsed as he tried to cross the already open barrier around mid-night at Charing Cross on Friday night. He was unable to stand up on his own and remain wedged between the frames.

But the station barrier had already been let open and no one knew which train he was hoping to board at that late hour.

Police and Station Security cordoned off the area and called medics who arrived within minutes. The man was pulled clear of the barriers and could been seen attempting to speak.

But although police were trying to get some clear speech, it was doubtful they succeeded and nothing could be written down. He tried to move his head and open his mouth but lacked the energy.

Minutes later, another ambulance van arrived the station and a stretcher was pulled. The man was later removed from the station on a stretcher as he was believed to unable to speak.

A station staff told how some of them drink too much that they are unable to steady themselves even as they try to get home.
