NASA Show The Extent Of Changes To Sea Level On Earth In The Last 22-years

by Benson Agoha | Space Science

Global warming has been accused of causing much of the natural disasters that has befallen earth over the past decade.

From melting arctic ice-blocks to extended draught in some parts of Africa, global warming has been blamed for excessive rainfall as well as the depletion of the O-zone layer.

But how much change have humans managed to cause on their beloved planet? NASA has put together a visualisation that shows the total sea level change between 1992 and 2014. That's 22 years of observation put together into one final product.

NASA said it collected data from the TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1, and Jason-2 satellites to achieve the result.

"Blue regions are where sea level has gone down, and orange/red regions are where sea level has gone up." NASA said.

Since 1992, seas around the world have risen an average of nearly 3 inches.
