Renovation: Former ART DECO Building Woolwich, Glowing Again

* Back to life: The Art Deco Building, Woolwich
Some two and half years after demolition work began on the former Art Deco, also known as the co-op building, woolwich, work is nearly completed.

Located directly opposite Travelodge and two blocks away from TK Maxx, the building has been empty, derelict and thrashed, for several years, during which it was occupied by the homeless, pigeons and rodents.

The Woolwich Co-Op was saved by the Town Centre Planning Committee which included it in the Town Centre regeneration Masterplan.

In February 2012, the committee recommended its conversion into "high specification residential development, with complementary, active uses on the ground floor, as well as smaller scale retail, Cafés and Restaurants".

When Woolwich Online called at the site Wednesday, workmen were putting finishing touches to the property. In fact it has been transformed to a new build, with three new floors added to the top.

The property has been converted into 73 residential apartments of between 1 Bed, 2 Bed to 3 Bedroom apartments. There is a penthouse and a large open space for shopping on the ground floor.

The contractor is hoping to complete construction works by the middle of April 2015, but besides the remarkable new look, is the price.

We are told that prices start from £275,000 for the One Bed Apartment to about £1 million for the Pent House.
