A man from Brockley, south London, who went on a mission to find the owner of a collection of photos he found in an armchair after a purchase has thanked the public for an amazing effort.

Oli Lansley bought an old armchair from a flea market in Brockley, but later found the photo album hidden under the seat. His effort to find the owner attracted the attention of 33.5 thousand shares and countless tweets and re-tweets.

It even caught the attention of "news stories in the evening standard/mirror/Sun/mail online and even interviews with BBC and ITV news." It also helped swell friendship requests from the public by 400.

But his effort paid off when the own reached out to him and the album has now been returned.

In his own words, Oli Lansley who hopes his 15 second firm will land him an invitation to the Big Brother House, wrote:

"Dear Facebook,

Well that escalated quickly...

So 48 hours after my initial post and 35.5k shares, countless tweets, 400 friend requests, "news" stories in the evening standard/mirror/Sun/mail online and even interviews with BBC and ITV news (yup)...

I just handed the photo album over to It's rightful owner Noel Douglas.

Here's a photo of me and Noel- and you'll be pleased to hear he was as dapper a dude as we all hoped him to be.
I just wanted to say a huge huge thank you to every single person who shared my original post.
It was truly magical to see so many people working together to try and help one stranger do a tiny little favour for another stranger.
Isn't it amazing what we can do when we all pull together in a positive direction...?
(There's a moral in there somewhere, though I'm not sure what it is)

But genuinely, thank you, and good work.

Right, I'm now off to milk my 15 seconds of fame as 'photo album guy' and see if I can get a spot on big brother alongside bin cat lady and the kid who got bit by Charlie.

Well done world- you did a nice thing.

Yours,
Photo Album Guy (tm)."

Well done Oli and best of luck with your Big Brother ambition.
