Book fans of all ages joined in the celebrations for World Book Night and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death on April 23.
Woolwich library had not one but two visiting authors; Gillian Slovo who has written thirteen books and Gloria Cameron who read her book, “Case Dismissed!” There was also a full afternoon of events for all ages including performers in costume from Rose Bruford College who read the most recognisable and inspiring scenes from Shakespeare.
West Greenwich put on a Shakespeare display, themed games sessions and a film screening while, in the south of the borough, New Eltham laid out the crafts for children to design their own theatre and costumes.
Over at Eltham, the Library hosted the Bob Hope’s New Stagers who re-enacted the unforgettable balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet.
