Elon Musk Presents Cheaper Tesla Model 3 In Australia

by Benson Agoha | Technology

Ok..it was promised and now being made a reality - the formal presentation of Tesla's Model 3 which is  cheaper and expectedly more affordable.

Yesterday, Thursday March 31, Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, delivered the expected announcement of his company's readiness to produce a cheaper version of its highly rated electric car.

The presentation, which took place in Australia, was also webcast on the company's website at Tesla.com and attracted massive interest from a great majority of fans.

The huge response has encouraged Tesla to limit the number of car one person can purchase to only two.

Musk announced that several more countries are being added on the supply list including India, Brazil, South Africa, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore and Ireland.

In just 24 hours, Tesla has taken 180,000 orders for the new Model 3. And depending on your preferences - the mixes and matches, the average price for the car may be $42k (£29,500).

Unveiling of the new model at this time appears timely, considering the pollution emission scandals that had hit the auto industry since September last year.

But even though Tesla is a relative new comer, its success has been has been enhanced by Elon Musk reputation as one of the foremost industrial designers of the modern age.

Musk already owns SolarCity, PayPal and Space `X' and is involved in several other successful enterprises and technology start-ups, including London based DeepMind.

Musk is excited and says customers won't be disappointed even as he announced a small token of appreciation to come to those who line up for hours to book their orders.

With Tesla making laudable giant strides in a field that is sure to make huge demands for steel products, it can only be good news for the British Steel Industry currently facing serious challenges due to poor orders.

But for those rushing in orders at the moment, when should you expect your sleek car? They will have to wait till late 2017, that is if production stays on course and there are no unforeseen delays.

And with Tesla already building a new plant in Europe, 2017 may not be too far away.

Tesla's reputation has been enhanced by the release of its luxury Model S which received the highest raiding ever given to any car by Consumer Report. So if it stays on course, the real shift just may have already occurred.

Preorders started with a $1,000 (£700) deposit and as already stated about, 180,000 orders were taken by Tesla in just 24 hours. Factor in the new countries being added to the pre-order list and you make up your mind.
