Self Balancing Two Wheelers, Self-Driving Autos - The Future Of Transport Is Self Reliance

by Benson Agoha | Technology

In 2012, some smart kits from North America decided to unveil their latest smart idea - a self balancing two wheeler bikes, designed as as an all enclosed capsule vehicle that can guarantee maximum safety for occupants. They call it the C-1. It is classified as a motorcycle, inspite of its self-balancing features.

The developers are optimistic and reckon it will reduce travel time by as much as 50%. In future, this might the primary vehicle for urban dwellers - just like the SMART car.

The C-1 is easy to park and of-course zaps through on-coming winds as it slips through traffic, between vehicles in two lanes.

The fully electric bike comes with a top speed of 100+ mph (160+ kph), 0-60 mph (0-100 kph) in. It uses a high torque, direct drive, in-hub motors and currently uses lithium iron phosphate batteries, which the developers say is the best technology available at the moment.

And depending on the voltage, Charge times will be 4-6 hours and what more, it even has enough space for an additional passenger, so for work or pleasure, it seems like the real deal.

For now it is estimated that it will cost approximately $24,000 USD (£16.700) and may be cheaper for California drivers.

It that expensive? Well considering that it is self-balancing and will stand even when accidentally hit by a car, it does seem to be worth it.

The C-1,and their self-driving auto counterparts currently undergoing trials in various labs of different manufacturers around he world, are, without doubt, the future of transport.
