Voter Registration Deadline Looms, Royal Greenwich Reminds

by Benson Agoha | Woolwich

Residents in the Royal Borough of Greenwich are reminded that the deadline to register to vote in next month’s elections is Monday 18 April.

With just a week to go, residents are being urged to get their names on the ballot so they can vote in the Mayoral and Assembly elections on 5 May.

Those who have moved home in the last 12 months or who have not previously registered to vote at their current address need to make sure they are on the electoral register in order to put their cross in the box.

The Electoral Commission reports that in 2015, more than one million applications to register were made in the final week so there is still time to get your name down.

It takes only a few minutes and also means that you will be registered in good time for the referendum, on 23 June, on the UK’s membership of the European Union.

* Find out how to register quickly at www.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/elections

* You will already be registered if you voted at the General Election in 2015, responded to all letters from the elections office and have not changed address.

If you are not sure, you can find out whether you are on the register by contacting the Greenwich elections office - email elect@royalgreenwich.gov.uk or call 020 8921 5184.
