Camel racing, bands and a veteran’s parade will be among the attractions at the UK's largest Armed Forces Day events to be held next month in Woolwich.

Held on Saturday 25 June 2016 at the Royal Artillery Barracks, the event includes the Great Get Together, the Royal Borough of Greenwich's big summer community celebration.

The Great Get Together and Armed Forces Day is a large and well established one day event, running since 2011, with this year’s expected attendance to be over the 25,000 mark. Entry is free and many of the attractions are free of charge.

With a stunning backdrop of the Royal Artillery Barracks parade ground, the wide range of event attractions includes an army assault course for children, live animals, giant inflatables, have a go sports sessions, Laser Quest, a under 5s play zone, fairground rides and a variety of static displays from vintage motorbikes to Meccano models.

Councillor Denise Scott-McDonald (top right), Cabinet Member for Culture, Creative Industries & Community Wellbeing said: “We are delighted to be working alongside our colleagues in the armed services to host this day. This will be a great family day out, and will bring people together from all parts of our diverse local community.”

The live music stage showcases a range of popular, local musicians, while military bands, stunt vehicle shows and other spectacular displays take place in the large arena at the heart of the event site.

Debuting at the event will be thrilling camel racing and The Imps motorcycle display team as well as regular favourites the Essex Dogs display team. Dance demonstrations, BMX bike displays, falconry and other smaller displays will be entertaining the crowds at a second smaller arena nearby.

Car parking nearby will be available through advance booking online:
