Schools Await Official Directive On Reopening, Following EndSars Protests

Schools are awaiting official government directive on reopening after last weeks closure.  Many schools we visit today remain shut and children stayed home.

Last week's violent sparks from the ENDSARS protest which erupted following the shooting at the Lekki Toll Gate forced government to directives all schools to be shut till further notice.

The last closure was caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and kept teachers and children at home for months.  Private schools reopened on September 21, 2020 only to be shut again a month later. It is doubtful if schools will reopen before Christmas and many parents are simply confused.

On Monday night Vice President Yemi Osinbajo reportedly chaired a virtual emergency National Economic Council (NEC) Meeting.

At the meeting, the NEC resolved that the deeper issues behind the ENDSARS protests and its fallouts should be addressed by both the Federal and State Governments, according to a tweet by the Presidency.
